We are currently seeking a talented and motivated **Cobol / Mainframe developer** for a Full-Time position. **Job Summary:** We are seeking an experienced **Cobol? Mainframe Developer** with a strong background in mainframe applications, particularly COBOL and DB2, to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience analyzing business and software system requirements, developing functional specifications, and supporting the software development life cycle. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders, product owners, and development teams to ensure system functionality aligns with business needs and performance expectations. **Key Responsibilities:** + Analyze user and business software system requirements to determine system needs. + Define and assess application functionality and oversee upgrades throughout the system lifecycle. + Maintain comprehensive documentation aligned with development standards, procedures, and policies. + Develop, prioritize, and organize requirement specifications, data mapping, flowcharts, and diagrams. + Translate complex technical specifications into clear, non-technical requirements. + Develop and document features, epics, and user stories with detailed acceptance criteria. + Assist project teams with cost estimation and resource planning. + Implement best practices for scalability, maintainability, supportability, and performance optimization. + Create current and future state documentation for existing system interfaces. + Prepare and maintain Interface Control Documents (ICDs) for both existing and future integrations. **Required Experience:** + Proven experience in information technology, systems analysis, and business requirements gathering. + Strong ability to assess business needs and deliver relevant technical solutions. + 10+ years of hands-on experience with COBOL applications on the mainframe. + 10+ years of experience working with DB2 databases integrated into mainframe environments. + Experience with Neon Servers on the mainframe (preferred). + Proficiency in working with Agile methodologies. + Experience collaborating with Product Owners, writing features and user stories. + Familiarity with Agile project management tools like VersionOne or equivalent. + Working knowledge of a wide range of programming languages. + Solid understanding of SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) best practices. **Educational Requirements:** + Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline preferred. + Note: In the absence of a relevant degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required. **Preferred Skills:** + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. + Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. + Ability to work independently as well as part of a cross-functional team. + Exceptional organizational and documentation skills. **Does this opportunity sound like a fit for you?
