BASIC FUNCTION
This position is responsible for assessing Defendants for Pretrial Services.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Supervises:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
"*" denotes an essential function of the job
A. *Conduct pretrial risk assessments to assist with level of supervision.
B. *Identify and coordinate appropriate services for the Defendants as needed.
C. * Monitor participant's compliance with pretrial release scheduled, including visiting/monitoring/documenting home/job/activity sites.
D. *Conducts investigations and makes pretrial release recommendations as needed.
E. *Conduct investigations of violations of unaccounted for time.
F. *Testify in court, and maintaining documents and computer files. Prepares detailed reports monthly for each participant.
G. *Serve as a liaison between participants and service providers, including explaining program policies, answering questions, and resolving problems.
H. * Assist with participant intake, including completing required forms, explaining program rules and contract terms, and executing contracts.
I. *Maintains current and accurate case files including documenting all contacts made with the Defendant in the case management system.
J. Prepare and file various documents with the court identifying the program participant's progress or lack thereof and testifies in court proceedings.
K. *Responsible for maintaining case notes on offender(s)
L. Responsible for tracking GPS locations on offenders who are placed on electronic monitoring
M. Responsible for ensuring Day Reporting Defendants are reporting telephonically.
N. Responsible for ensuring Defendant telephone contact information remains up to date in the court system.
O. Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Chief.

L. Maintain current knowledge of applicable local, state and federal rules/regulations, new developments, technologies and trends in the field of community corrections by reading professional publications and periodically attending training/seminars/conferences.

J. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND CONDITIONS
A. This position requires working in a correctional facility and around offenders.
B. This position requires a flexible work schedule.
C. This position may require going to the Clark County jail and meeting with offenders.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
A. Minimum of Bachelor's degree required; experience in counseling or conducting evidence based programs preferred. Experience in counseling, behavioral change or conducting evidence based programs preferred.
B. Ability to pass the Indiana Probation Officer test.
C. One year of court room experience preferred.
D. Ability to become certified in the IRAS and remain certified
E. Possession of or the ability to obtain required certifications/training including First Aid, CPR, blood borne pathogens, and verbal de-escalation.
F. Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in written form.
G. Ability to meet all departmental hiring and retention requirements, including not posing a direct threat to the health and safety of other individuals in the work place.
H. Working knowledge of Standard English grammar, spelling and punctuation.
